Kenai River, ALASKA

The Kenai River is a spectacular place to fish beginning in mid May, with plenty of King Salmon entering the river. The fishing remains excellent throughout June and July until the season closes on July 31. This river is famous for producing large fish where anglers are always looking to top the world record King Salmon(97 1/4 lbs)! Fish generally average between 40 and 50 lbs. The Kenai River can be fished from a drift boat or power boat on very swift waters.

Kasilof River

The nearby Kasilof River supports a popular King Salmon fishery as well. Hatchery fish enter this river in big numbers during May and June with more native King Salmon returning in July. The fish range in size from 10 to 30 lbs. The Kasilof River is a drift boat only fishery and is very exciting.

This native Kasilof River King Salmon weighing 54 lbs was caught in June, 1996.
